Chiroubles AOC

Chiroubles is one of the 10 Cru Beaujolais villages. With about 235 hectares under vine it is one of the smallest, but the area is known for producing complex wines from its high altitude granite vineyards.

Chiroubles AOC “Chatenay”
Chiroubles AOC “Chatenay”
Domaine Daniel Bouland, Burgundy, France
2015
Gamay Noir (100%)
“Outstanding Cru Beaujolais! The freshest of all Bouland’s wines, this pitches lively acidity against mouthwateringly crunchy red fruit. There is cherry, cranberry and raspberry notes all dancing from the glass, but partnered with the schist driven complexity of low intervention winemaking and respect for the soils. Undoubtedly one of the best wines in the appellation, the finish offers fresh fruit and just enough tannic grip keep it all in perfect harmony.”
92 Paul Caputo
Chiroubles AOC “Las Forge”
Chiroubles AOC “Las Forge”
Domaine de la Chaponne, Burgundy, France
2016
Gamay Noir (100%)
“Earthy aromas of the nose merge with wild blueberries. The palate is fresh and light, with a little potrusion of warm alcohol on the finish. Drinking very well already but should develop well for a few more years yet.”
90 Paul Caputo
