Barbera d’Alba DOC

Poderi Colla is a top quality producer of Barbaresco. It was founded by Beppe Colla who passed away at the age of 88 in 2019, but his legacy continues. Today the company includes three key estates - Cascine Drago in San Rocco Seno d’Elvio di Alba, Tenuta Roncaglia in Barbaresco and Dardi Le Rose in Bussia di Monforte d’Alba - as well as the more recent development of Bricco Bompè, in Madonna di Como of Alba.

Albino Rocca is a long standing producer of Barbaresco with several interesting parcels of vines.

Paitin is one of Barbaresco’s traditional producers.

Azelia produces highly regarded Barolo.

Roberto Voerzio is one of the great names of Barolo. Meticulous attention to detail ensures this small twenty-two hectare estate consistently crafts outstanding wines.

GD Vajra is one of the names to follow in Piedmont at the moment. Dolcetto in particular is a variety the winery excels at, but the company is perhaps best known for their range of Barolo wines from cru sites such as Bricco delle Viole and Coste di Rose.

Tenuta Carretta produces outstanding wines from Barolo, notably the Barolo Riserva from the Cannubi Cru.

Elio Grasso produce interesting Barolo wines.

Elio Altare is a well regarded producer in the Barolo village of La Morra. One of the original “Barolo Boys,” a movement of winemakers who influenced Piedmont’s wine industry in the 1980s, Elio Altare is now a father figure to a new generation. Known for pioneering a more accessible, less tannic style for Barolo, the estate continues to make his revered boutique wines with the Arborina cuvée often cited as a style reference.

Founded in 1837, Cantine Povero is one of the oldest wine companies in Piedmont. Based in Cisterna d’Asti, a fragmented holding of forty-five hectares allows for the production of wines from across the region.

Located in Alba in Piedmont, the Prunotto estate is owned by the Antinori family and produce good value wines from Nebbiolo.

Founded by Domenico Clerico in 1976, this important Barolo estate played a key role in the construction of Barolo as one of the world’s most respected wines. Following the passing of Domenico around 120,000 bottles a year are now made by oenologist Oscar Arrivabene.
