Both red and white wines can be produced in Assisi, notably from varietals such as Grechetto di Todi, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese.
Based in the town of Spello, Sportoletti is one of the most famous names in Umbria. In recent years the wines have improved dramatically are now highly regarded in Umbria and flying the flag for the little known Assisi DOC appellation.
